Electric scooters on the rise
Its not just electric cars that are enjoying the surge of interest in alternative, cheap ‘n’ green transport, electric scooters are also looking to take their share of the market.
Electric scooters such as the e-max, with its impressive promise of costing just one pence-a-mile to run have obvious appeal to the hard-up. It looks just like its petrol counterparts and yet it is virtually silent to run (a relief for those who dislike the annoying high-pitch whine of traditional scooters). While the current dealer network for this particular brand does not yet extend beyond London, with rising costs and the potential introduction of congestion charging in other cities like Manchester; they could well see a surge in demand for it elsewhere in the country.
The e-max has 4000 Watt, electric hub motor, a top speed of 30mph and a range up to 55 miles. The sealed silicone lead acid battery takes between three and five hours to charge and is maintenance free. With a two-year or 10,00km warranty on batteries, the e-max costs just £2350 + VAT. It may not appeal to everyone but is ideal for city commuters.
